AGE LIKE A FINE WINE
We are all aware that ageing is a natural aspect of life, one we cannot prevent. Although we can’t control aging, we can manage our lifestyle and how we care for our skin. A healthy complexion can be achieved by a balanced, active lifestyle, nutritious food, a regular, effective, skin care routine, and a pleasant view on life.
All that being said, we aren’t just here to blow your trumpet and tell you that you’re gorgeous without anti-aging creams and serums (although you are). We are here to provide you with some of the best tips we have collated from qualified dermatologists for aging skin.
1. Obvious, but potentially the most difficult lifestyle change you can make to prevent premature aging – stop smoking. Smoking rapidly accelerates the ageing of skin and causes a dull complexion.
2. Daily SPF is your bestie, and it is never too late to start. Not only does it decrease your risk of skin cancers and skin precancers. Regular daily use of SPF 15 sunscreen can reduce your risk of developing squamous cell carcinoma by about 40% and lower your melanoma risk by 50%. As well as help prevent premature skin aging caused by the sun, including wrinkles, sagging and age spots. And it isn’t just for your face. It is important to apply it to your hands and anywhere else the sun may reach.
3. Consume a nutritious, well-balanced diet. According to the findings of new studies, eating plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables may help prevent damage that can lead to early skin ageing. Research findings also indicate that a diet high in sugar or other refined carbohydrates can quicken ageing. (The more you know!)
4. Bin the straws - You purse your lips when you use a drinking straw. According to Renée Rouleau, a passionate anti-aging practitioner, repeated lip pursing causes wrinkles to form around the mouth. If, however, you quite enjoy a straw, anti-aging straw toppers can reduce added tension around the lips. Furthermore, you could always take a ‘YOLO’ approach, and age gracefully as you sup away at your straw, the choice is yours.
5. Exercise on most days of the week. Several studies have found that moderate exercise can improve circulation and boost the immune system. This, in turn, may give the skin a more youthful appearance. As well as aiding you in maintaining a healthy head space too.
If you only take one thing from this blog entry, let it be this. Beauty is timeless - especially when a person’s spirit is sincere and kind. Kindness is genuine beauty. When someone focuses on ensuring they are kind on the inside and takes care of their outer appearance as best they can, beauty, both inside and out, is certain.
This is your reminder that aging is a privilege, and there are so many who don’t get the opportunity, so welcome it with open arms. I’d like to end with a quote from Lynsay Sands that goes as follows:
Take care lovelies!
