AND THE AWARD GOES TO…
The day comes each year, glitz, glamour & gossip…you guessed it, The Oscars. (Well, you hardly guessed it, it’s in the title you cheeky thing!) For weeks before and after, the nominations, outfits, attitudes, and winners flood social media. But if you have managed to dodge the spoilers then here is a quick recap of the night.
Hayley Bieber, Kylie, and Kendall Jenner arrived together in complimentary gowns. Hayley sporting a modest, flawless black dress, with flamboyant shoulder pads and a seamless one-handed glove moment and contrasting red nails. Styled by YSL, no surprise there, as she is an ambassador. Her infamous statement bob with a slight wave and immaculate soft glam makeup look.
Kendall rocked a skin-tight, gold and black, fishtail, petal patterned frock with a low-cut front and cross over straps at the back from Jean Paul Gautier. With a face framing updo and blushed cheeks.
Lastly, Kylie rocked a dark metallic dress with a corset-like midriff and statement bow across her chest draping into a cape-like train from Margiela. Complimented by a sleek, classic updo and Sunkissed clavicles.
Michelle Yeoh stole the show when she won the Oscar for Best Lead Actress for her performance in ‘Everything Everywhere All at Once’. She took home the Oscar, along with becoming the second woman of colour, and first Asian woman in 88 years to be nominated for ‘Best Actress’ at the Oscars. (What?!) The first being Halle Berry, who had the honour of co-announcing Michelle Yeoh as the winner this year. Yeoh spoke openly about her award and spoke to women of colour everywhere when she said ‘I’m still here today, finally after 40 years, I get this. It just goes to show, we will win the battle…don’t let anyone put you in a box, dare to dream, and anything is impossible, look at me, I’m here.’ She is an incredible inspiration to women everywhere and is very deserving of the award.
Household name, Jamie-Lee Curtis also walked away with her first Academy award, a career win for her, after performing in so many astonishing roles, from Freaky Friday to Halloween. She proved at 64 years of age, there is no such thing as ‘past your prime’.
Overall, a pretty celebratory night of talent and success. What were your favourite looks and nominations from the night? Feel free to tag us in stories on Instagram with your thoughts! I hope you enjoyed this little recap of the Oscars, and I look forward to catching you next week ‘on the blog!’
Take care lovelies! xoxo
