CLOUDY WITH A CHANCE OF GLOW

The dreamy new trend ‘Cloud Skin’ has taken TikTok by storm. Are we waving goodbye to glowing, dewy, golden hour skin? I think not. According to makeup artist Dominic Skinner ‘cloud skin’ is a hybrid between a matte finish and a healthy glow. He coined the term a couple of years ago, but like everything it is resurfacing on our TikTok FYP, and people are going mad for it!

Whilst the glass, glazed donut look is here to stay, people have been avidly searching for a mattified alternative that doesn’t leave their skin looking dry, dull, and dehydrated. If you are a full coverage, matte girlie then this might be right up your street, and here is how to achieve it, DEWCY style:

Achieving the glow is all down to skincare, as the look is highlight-free.

1. Prep:

Start by cleansing. Our Miracle Oil will effectively remove dead skin and excess oils. And although, we want our skin to look soft-focus and cloud-like, we don’t need the fluff of peach fuzz, so feel free to dermaplane in preparation.

2. Hydrate:

Next, take a grain of rice amount of our ‘Dew Believe in Magic’ Vitamin C radiance balm and our ‘Bounce Back’ beauty balm as an added skin boost. Apply this to your face, neck and decolletage, a little goes a long way! (Top with SPF of course!)

3. Enhance:

Once you’ve followed those steps, you’ll be looking like a snapped and ready, gorgeous glow stick. When the dewy base has been achieved you are ready for makeup. A tinted moisturiser or your favourite foundation can be applied next with a buffing brush. Red carpet makeup artist Jamie Greenberg, says ‘it’s crucial to go in with powder next to get that dreamy, hazy feel.’ She goes on to instruct ‘Dab it in the hollows of your cheeks, your upper forehead, and a little on your nose and chin, it takes down some of the wetness, but the powder also blurs. So now there are some different textures on your face.’ She encourages you to layer concealer with powder until you are happy with dimensions of the cloud look. The bronzer and blush should blend naturally into the skin with no harsh creases or chiselled lines of contour. Once the base is complete you can add makeup to your lips, and eyes as you like it, think cherub from a renaissance painting and you can’t go far wrong.

It is important to remember that trends come and go, and then they resurface again with a new name. Have fun with makeup and explore how different looks make you feel. Enjoying the application and adventure that makeup is, is the essence of expression. Hopefully, this entry serves as inspiration to fall in love with your makeup bag all over again. If anything, it is a perfect time to take time for yourself and practise self-care, whether that is through skincare, makeup, or anything else.

Have an amazing week lovelies!

xoxo
